My Favorite Fitness Tips for Summer


Hello Everyone! I hope you all are enjoying the week so far. We are FINALLY having some warm days in Buffalo as June comes to an end. It’s a great feeling to lay out in my backyard in the morning as I write my daily post.

In the beginning of summer, I was dedicated to working out religiously and eating healthy. I would attend a spinning class three times a week, and a weight resistance class twice a week at my local gym. On the off days, I would go for long walks with my mom, or lift weight from home. Anything to stay active, I would enjoy it.

In addition to my workout schedule, I would have a consistent diet everyday. In the morning for breakfast, I would have a cup of oatmeal with mixed berries. For lunch, I would have a protein shake, and dinner would consist of a salad large enough to feed an entire family.

Unfortunately, working everyday has thrown off my schedule a lot and I was upset with myself for not working out as often as I did in the beginning of summer. So, I decided to revamp my workout schedule to a routine that would best work for me.

If you aren’t a member of a gym in your area, or don’t have time to work out at a gym then these workout tips might be great for you! And remember, I never work out to lose weight, I work out to feel healthy and strong. Hopefully, you all feel the same way about fitness.

My first summer fitness tip to be careful of sodium. Salty snacks such as chips and french fries cause bloating and can definitely change your bikini body image. Not only does it affect your body, but it’s very bad for your skin. So, instead of reaching for a salty snack, try reaching for something fruity and light when you’re at the beach.

My second fitness tip for summer is to make sure you stay hydrated, especially if you’re planning on working out often. Dehydration is harmful for every aspect of your body. It could also lead to dangerous black-outs, which could lead you to a trip to the emergency room. So, please be careful throughout the summer months, and drink, drink, drink (water, of course.)

My next fitness tip is utilize the outdoors as much as possible while you workout. My favorite workouts are when I can enjoy the sunny weather with my friends and family and still get a good workout in for the day. Some of my outdoor workouts include: jumping rope outside, hiking, kayaking, running through trails, swimming and biking. Any workout is still a good workout. So, enjoy yourself and bring along a family member or friend! The more the merrier.

My last fitness tip is take advantage of the fruits and vegetables that are in season during the summertime. I love snaking on all different types of fruits during this time of year. Also, have a wide variety in your diet has great benefits for your body. Not only will you look great, but you will also feel great, too. And, I think that’s the most important factor while working out and getting healthy throughout the year.
