How to Deal: Negative People In Your Life

Hello there and happy Saturday! I hope you all are enjoying the weekend so far. I wanted to add a new segment on my blog called, “How to Deal,” where I will talk about different topics and how to go about them in a simple way. Life throws new challenges at us, however we can’t let those situations create negativity in our lives. It’s best to find a rational solution and deal.

Today I want to talk about a subject that might be difficult to incorporate into your life, but it’s a necessity if you’re motivated to living a positive lifestyle. nonegativity

Have you ever felt happy about different areas in your life (love life, job, school, family, health, friends, etc.) but you still feel negative energy in your day-to-day life? The problem might not be you, but it might be the people around you. Today, I realized that this was a sad factor in my life and I felt overwhelmed.

Do you have a particular friend, coworker, family member or acquaintance that has a negative outlook? There will always be negative people in the world but they can cause negativity in your life, too. So, how do you deal?

Don’t allow the person to complain about their life to you. You’re content with your life and you’re focusing on a positive lifestyle, so don’t let someone ruin that. Or, if they do complain and you can’t seem to avoid the conversation, let them. But don’t continue the conversation. Let them say what they need to say, move on and be done with it. We all need to vent, but carrying on that negativity will stay with you for the rest of your day, and that’s not healthy.

If  they’re a close friend, the situation might be more difficult for you. Maybe you should reevaluate the time you spend with them. Or, try to open their eyes to the positivity in the world (beautiful weather, compliment their outfit, etc.) Compliments are a great way to give a negative Nancy a confidence boost and a positive outlook on their day.

It’s not easy to deal with negative people, especially if they’re stress is causing you stress. Think simply:  don’t overreact and make hasty decisions. Size up the problem and plan accordingly. The rest will fall into place.
