How to Deal: Prepare for the Holidays (Fitness)

indexHello everyone and happy Wednesday. I hope everyone is enjoying their week. I’m excited for the holiday season and I am in the Christmas spirit more and more each day.

Today, I want to share some tips on how to prepare for a month of good food and even better desserts.  If you plan to eat cookies, cake and pie everyday, which I plan on doing, you should consider your fitness routine.

First, don’t sit around and wait for the pounds to pile on throughout the month because by January 1, you’ll be disappointed that you did. So, change up your fitness routine. Take new cardio classes like a spinning class or step class. Most people won’t start proactively going to the gym until after the holidays, but don’t wait for the crowd. Get in the habit early of attending the gym regularly and you’ll see results.

If you don’t like attending classes at the gym, don’t worry. There are other options for you. Focus on interval training. This is a combination of short bursts of intense cardio training followed by a period of moderate training. For example, jump rope quickly for about one minute and then slow down the pace to a moderate jump for two minutes. Continue this alternation about five times (15 minutes). Then the following week, increase your intensity by jumping quickly for 2 minutes and jumping moderately for 1 minute. You’ll see results with this simple but effective method of working out.

If you’re not in shape for an intense workout, that’s okay because you can still have a fitness routine that accommodates what you can do. For example, walk everyday for 45 minutes. That’s all it takes to see results. It’s a simple, no stress and free workout that anyone can do. All you need is motivation throughout the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

What’s your favorite way to stay in shape during the holidays? I’s love to read them in the comments so make sure to leave one. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I will talk to you all soon. Bye!
