When we are bombarded with work, school, internships or other responsibilities, we tend to forget to take care of ourselves the way we truly deserve. I’m sharing five self-care tips you should treat yourself to every week. If you’re looking to add some bliss in your life (and routine) keep on reading.
1. Catch some Zzz’s:
Beauty rest is important. You should at least get seven hours of sleep each night. However, if you find yourself only sleeping five or six hours a night, treat yourself to nine hours of sleep to catch up on so much needed rest. You’ll feel energized to take on the week.
2. Be outside in nature:
Walking on a trail or on the beach can do wonders for your health, mood and spirit. You should always treat yourself to some vitamin D (from the sun) and clear your mind by appreciating the beautiful world around you. This will relieve any stress and prepare you for a busy day or week.
3. Meditate and reflect:
Try to incorporate mediation and reflection in your life. Even if it’s for 10 minutes a day, it’s important to calm the mind and body. Or, you can reflect on your list of goals you have accomplished or create new goals you plan to accomplish. This will help relax your mind.
4. Cleanse your system:
Take the week to detox your body. Be mindful of what you put into your system. Eat plenty of vegetables, fresh fruit and protein. Cut out any processed foods or foods that make you feel bloated. You’ll feel refreshed, healthy and capable of accomplishing any tasks for the week.
5. Treat yourself:
I like to take time on Sunday to treat myself whether it’s an at-home spa day (mani/pedi, face mask, hair mask, etc.) or watching a movie that will give me an educated perspective. Regardless of how you treat yourself, make sure it’s a healthy treat because you deserve to feel good.
