Summer Fashion Trend: Pineapples

BB8315Above images from Francesca’

I might sound biased because pineapple is one of my favorite fruits, but I am obsessed with the pineapple craze this summer. From accessories to decor or clothing, I have been seeing pineapples featured everywhere.

I thought it would be fun to do a post featuring some of my favorite items I’ve found from Francesca’s sporting this summer trend. Here are five of my favorites:

Jewelry Holder: This holds everyday jewels you wear regularly while staying festive for summer. If you’re looking for functional and festive tray to hold your jewelry, this holder is perfect for you.

Shorts: Who doesn’t love fabric shorts? They’re comfortable and are prettier than your standard denim shorts. If you’re looking to step out of your comfort zone, pick up these shorts to wear to a bon fire with your friends.

Phone Case: If you change up your phone case based on the season, add this one to your collection. It’s beach worthy and will keep you thinking about summer even when the warm days have passed.

Canvas Shoes: I love canvas shoes because they’re comfortable and versatile. Why not try pineapple-patterned ones? Take a navy dress and make it pop with these shoes. You’ll create a comfortable, chic look.

Watch: Put your Michael Kors away for the day and bring out this watch for a day of summer fun. The cork band gives the watch a laid-back look if you don’t want to worry about ruining your fancy watch.

What item is your favorite? Have you been wearing anything with pineapples on it this summer, or are you not a fan of this trend? Leave a comment below!

What I Wore Wednesday: Whimsical Whites

BB72215-4 BB72215-5 BB72215-2 BB72215-1 BB72215-3

I have become obsessed with wearing whites this summer. I love the look of a crisp, clean outfit. To be honest, there’s nothing better than finding a color palette that you love. My color palette depends on my mood and has recently consisted of neutral colors like white, black and navy with few bright colors.

This week has been divided between working and more working. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to enjoy summer weather or time with friends. I keep telling myself that the work will pay off in the end!

Sometimes, we can’t find time to enjoy life, and it’s important to remember to schedule time for yourself. Even if it’s as little as 30 minutes a day to unwind with a book, take a walk or chat with a friend. Although we have commitments, time for ourselves is important.

Today, I’m taking the time to enjoy a day off of work, school work and blogging. Instead, I’ll be spending time relaxing and freeing my mind of all any responsibilities. I plan to treat myself to one of my favorite foods (sushi). Here’s my What I Wore Wednesday line up:

Top: Ann Taylor LOFT

Jeans: Old Navy

Sunglasses: Francesca’s

Wedges: DSW

Today, in the mist of your busy week, I encourage you to take time for yourself and put aside any work for the day. We all deserve it! Make sure to like this post if you want to see my outfits from my trip to D.C. next week Wednesday.

What I Wore Wednesday: embracing a busy schedule

Sometimes you need to embrace a busy schedule. I’m in my second, eight week-long class for the summer. Yes, my entire summer is dedicated to work, school work, blogging, working out, and spending time with my boyfriend and family during the rest of my free time.

Life is busy; but it’s okay to embrace a busy lifestyle. Although it’s important to take it slow and appreciate the little moments, it’s equally important to know that being busy and living a crazy life can be fun and exciting. However you decide to live your life this summer, make sure you’re happy because that’s all that matters.

For today’s What I Wore Wednesday, I was able to get some school work done, workout, prepare some blog posts for next week, go to happy hour with my best friend (my mom) and plan out the upcoming week (work schedule) before my trip to D.C. If you want to see D.C. photos of what I did, what I wore, etc., make sure to like this post! (Also, if you have restaurant recommendations, make sure to leave a comment below.)

Top: Forever 21: I’m obsessed with this top because I can easily wear it all-year long.

Shorts: Ann Taylor Loft: Scalloped detailing is my favorite trend for summer right now.

Sunglasses: Aldo: I’ve been on the hunt for new sunglasses and picked these up last weekend.

Hat: Aldo: Another item I’ve been searching for and finally found this weekend.

Remember that it’s okay to be busy and productive; but also remember it’s important to take a break and step back from the world to relax. As long as you’re living a happy, healthy life, then it’s okay.

How do you stay balanced when life is busy? Make sure to leave your tips in a comment below!

Summer Outfit Inspiration

BB7815Above image created by Blissfully Brunette (c)

Summer is one of my favorite seasons because I’m constantly inspired by new outfits, trends and styles. It’s the season where I tend to experiment the most with my style because there are so many options. Some of you might not have found your summer fashion inspiration; but that’s okay because I’m here to add a little bit of bliss to your life. Hopefully, you’ll feel inspired to explore your options for fashion this summer and try something new! Here are three outfits I’m inspired by and loving for summer:

 1. Co-ordinates:

Taylor Swift has mastered the art of co-ordinates: it’s basically a trendy “two piece suit” that’s comfortable and chic for summer. It reminds me of a dressed-up version of a romper (without the stress of a one piece). You can easily incorporate this outfit into your closet regardless of your style.

2. White and denim:

You can never go wrong with the classic “summer” statement: a white top and denim shorts or jeans. What I love about this look is that you can pair bold, bright accessories to create a fun look for summer. However you decide to wear this look, it’s versatile and promising for your wardrobe.

3. Full, midi skirts:

Whether you want to wear a solid midi skirt and dress it up with colorful tops and accessories, or you wear a printed skirt, the midi skirt is a must-have for summer inspiration. This is another versatile piece where you can play with your style and try new trends.

The Romper Rave: Clothing Haul

BB7115From left to right: GAP ($9), Target ($24), Target ($12) and Francesca’s Collection ($24)

I haven’t done a haul in a long time. This summer, I’ve been looking for one particular item: rompers. The last time I owned a romper was during the early years of high school. After six years, I’ve grown out of my only two rompers I owned. So, I decided now would be a good time to hop back on this trend.

What I love about rompers is how versatile they are. Think about it: instead of worrying about choosing the perfect top to pair with pants, jewelry and shoes. It can be a long process for any woman to get ready in the morning. Why not add a little bliss to your morning routine by wearing a romper. The only items you need to add to your look are shoes and a cardigan (when necessary).

Within the last week, I bought four rompers. Two from Target, one from Francesca’s Collection and one from GAP. All four are perfect for summertime: with bright colors and bold patterns, I’ll be sure to stand out in a crowd this season. I also purchased one all-black romper because it can be worn in spring, summer or fall.

The romper from GAP, which reminds me of Hawaii with the floral pattern and sunset-like colors, was only $9. Yes, $9. I was so happy to get this deal. The two rompers from Target were “buy one get one 50 percent off” ($24 and $12). The best part is that both rompers from Target have pockets (basically, every girl’s dream with clothing). And the romper from Francesca’s was $24 as well. So, four rompers for under $75. I’d say these were worth the money.

So next time you’re looking for an easy outfit to throw on last-minute, or looking for a fun summer outfit to wear throughout July and August, opt for a romper. You won’t regret adding simplicity in your life with this piece.

Do you wear rompers in summer? Where have you purchased your favorite ones? Leave your comments below!

How to: Develop your personal style

Maybe you’re reconsidering how you define your style, or you have never defined your style at all. It’s okay to feel confused on how to define and create your style in your wardrobe. This post will add some insight on how to find and develop your best style. You’ll add some bliss to your life knowing you can confidently strut the streets and shop with your style in mind.

Take time to find inspiration:

Yes, I’m giving you permission to buy magazines or spend hours on Pinterest and Instagram. Search different style inspiration outfits based on things you like. If you love coastal, nautical themes, search them online to understand the idea of that style.

Try something completely new:

If you’ve always based your outfits on current trends, opt for buying pieces that are classic and timeless. Or if you only stick with black and white clothing, try bright neon colors. It’s okay to experiment and play with your clothes. You might find something new you love.

Don’t confine yourself to one style:

Don’t feel like you need have all your clothes be striped, navy blue or white with anchors on them. You can develop your style without having your entire closet be uniformed. Keep in mind the different colors and trends you can incorporate to complement your style.

But have an idea of what fits into your style:

If you know what does and doesn’t fit into your personal style, you won’t worry about excessive shopping because you’ll stick to what works best in your style. If you love feminine pieces, you might not be a fan of Bermuda shorts and a polo. It’s okay to branch out, but know what will work and not work.

Clean out your closet:

Okay, so now you have an idea of what you like and don’t like in your style. Now, it’s time to make it official by cleaning out your closet of anything that doesn’t fit into your newly discovered style. Take out anything old, torn or doesn’t express your personal style.

Build the basic pieces and colors:

Your style is “bohemian chic,” now you have to find go-to pieces and colors you’ll wear regularly. Choose three staple colors (in this example: brown, white and blue) then piece one or two accent colors (purple and red) to mix. Find clothing that fits the style and color combinations you’ve decided.

What if you want to change your style:

You shouldn’t want to keep one style forever. Change is a natural part of life. As your grow older, your personal style may change several times. You might love bohemian chic for a few years then change to classic and chic. That’s okay. The point is for your style is to be a reflection of you.

How do you define your personal style? Are you trying to redefine your style? Make sure to leave a comment below!

WHAT TO WEAR: Work (Summer Edition)

BB61715Items Mentioned: White Dress; Mint Tunic; Blue Top; Patterned Blazer; Full Skirt.

Let’s be honest; warm weather doesn’t last forever (especially in Western New York) so you might not want to spend money on clothes you can only wear for five months of the year. But for work, there are some key essentials for summer wardrobe. The best part is you can incorporate these pieces into your work wardrobe for spring and fall.

The (not so little) White Dress:
I love white dresses for summer. They’re versatile in the workplace, especially when wearing blazers. They’re also great if you love wearing bright-colored accessories. Whether you want to dress this item up or down in the office, a white dress will allow you do accomplish this with ease.

The Tunic:

Tunics are underrated. Why? Because you can buy several tunics and none of them will be exactly the same, which is ample opportunity to maximize your closet for work attire. Pair them with pants or skirts for a casual, but business-appropriate look.

Plenty of Popovers:

Fitted clothing is out for summer. Opt for a twist on the classic button-down shirt with a popover. Instead of buttoning all the way down, they go mid length. They’re also loose-fitting, so you won’t feel uncomfortable during the day.

Bold Blazers:

Who said black blazers are the only option for work? Summer is the perfect excuse to go out and treat yourself to one or two vibrant blazers. Just make sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple with neutral colors, so the blazer acts as your statement piece.

Full Skirts:

It’s important to own a vast collection of skirts. Some days, you don’t want to wear your go-to tailored pants and blazer combo. Keep a collection of full skirts in your wardrobe in neutral colors like navy, black, grey and white. You can easily pair patterned tops and bold colors with this neutral base.

The number doesn’t matter [on your clothes]

Sometimes, I feel inspired to write something when I’m in the moment, and I’ve decided this is something I need to talk about because people shouldn’t have to struggle with this problem.

How often do we get mad at ourselves when we change sizes? A little back story: from high school to my second year of college, I have been a consistent size 2 (sometimes a 4). After going on birth control, I gained weight and noticed I have more curves. I still fit into clothes that are a size 2 or 4, but I have to occasionally buy jeans or slim-fit pants in a size 6.

Needless to say, I was infuriated with myself. But why? It’s not like I can’t fit into any of my clothes in my closet. I just needed a larger size on two different occasions. That didn’t change my anger.

I want to talk about this because I know many people who change a size (they might not even gain a lot of weight) and they hate themselves. We shouldn’t feel pressured to stay the same size for the rest of our lives. Do we really think we are going to magically weigh 125 pounds and stay a size 2 forever? For some people, of course, this might be the case; but for the majority, it isn’t likely.

It’s okay you aren’t the same size from age 16 to age 25. Our bodies change. Clothing material is made different, which is why you’re one size at one store but a different size at another store. We need to stop worrying about numbers and worry about how we feel. Do you feel beautiful and confident in the clothes you’re wearing? If yes, great and if you don’t then try changing how you dress.

If you notice you have gained a little weight, don’t beat yourself up. You’re human and we are all imperfect. We need to remember that we aren’t living to be a certain size. You don’t deserve to add unnecessary stress in your life.

Remember that you’re beautiful regardless of your jean size or dress size. Beautiful people come in all shapes and sizes, and we should celebrate that—instead of putting ourselves down.

Do you struggle with changing clothing sizes? Make sure to leave your comments and thoughts below!

How To: Create a minimalist wardrobe

Every spring, we go through a period of time where we donate and trash old clothes that don’t fit or we don’t wear anymore. What if I told you that you don’t have to do this annually and you can still have enough to wear? If you want your closet to feel a little bliss, try creating a minimalist wardrobe. Here are my top suggestions on where to begin:

Pick your palette:

Do you prefer warmer colors, or cool colors? Creating a palette that fits your personality and preference will help weed out colors you don’t need. Make sure your palette complements neutral colors. Cool colors (blues, greens and purples) are great with black, navy, grey, etc. The point is to remove anything that doesn’t work with your wardrobe and keep everything that’s versatile.

The purge:

Purging your clothes out of your wardrobe, especially if you’re a clothes hoarder, can be very difficult. Take small steps at a time. First go through everything that truly doesn’t fit your properly. Then go through everything you haven’t worn within the last year. Soon you’ll have the pieces you love and need most and get rid of anything unnecessary.

Be comfortable with wearing the same items frequently:

Sometimes, we develop “I have nothing to wear” syndrome because we have an overload of clothes that doesn’t suite our style, preference, etc. If you want to successfully create a minimalist wardrobe, you need to be confident in your closet and wearing those pieces regularly. You don’t need an outfit for everyday of the year. Your life will be more simple.

Take inventory regularly:

If you find that you’re shopping more and itching to buy new clothes, take inventory of your closet. Any time you purchase a new item, find something you can get rid of. This will save time, space and you’ll be able to continue your minimalist wardrobe. This goes for accessories like scarves, shoes, bags, etc. If you want to commit, it takes will power.

What tips do you have for creating a minimalist wardrobe? Do you currently have a lot of clothes and are looking to weed things out? Make sure to leave a comment below!

OOTD: The Modest Midi

KC4 KC5 KC1 KC3 KC6 KC2Goodbye mini skirts and hello to (modest) midi skirts. I’m not going to lie, I was skeptical about the midi skirt when it began booming in popularity. I thought, “I could never pull that off.” But once I stumbled across this beautiful skirt from Francesca’s, it was love at first sight.

Gorgeous colors paired with intricate patterns creates a stunning, eye-catching skirt. Although the colors are very specific, I think this skirt is very versatile, which is why I love it even more. It’s perfect for spring and summer whether I’m wearing it for a senior banquet or a graduation party.

If you’re still skeptical about the midi skirt, fear not! Remember, you CAN pull of this trend. All you need is a little confidence. Get ready to meet your new best friend for spring and summer. The midi skirt is here to stay.

White Denim: Same Jeans, Three Ways

If you haven’t seen some of my recent posts, I’ve been obsessing over white denim. I’ve been inspired by the crisp and clean look they bring to an outfit, which is why I decided to create three different looks based on one of my favorite trends for spring and summer.

outfit3You can easily incorporate white denim in your work attire. If you’re feeling brave, opt for an all-white ensemble. Pair a white blouse with a basic pattern on it with a pair of white pumps to finish the look. You’ll be fierce in the office. Outfit details: jeans, top and shoes.

You can easily wear white denim for a night out with friends. To contrast the white jeans, pair a black crop top with black heels. I love how gold studs complement black and white. It’s simple and chic for a fun evening. You’ll stand out in the crowd. Outfit details: jeans, top and shoes.outfit2Summertime is all about graduation parties, family picnics and other fun events that take up your weekends. For a go-to casual look with white denim, pair a bold top that’s casual and comfortable. Add some wedges to complete your look. Outfit details: jeans, top and wedges.

Whimsical Whites

BB51315Products listed: skirt from Nordstrom; bag from Nordstrom; sandals from DSW; jeans from Ann Taylor loft; top from ModCloth.

Spring and summer are seasons for bold, bright colors, which everyone loves. Sometimes, it’s nice to change your look with classic, crisp colors like white. Currently, I’m loving white everything for spring and summer from skirts to sandals.

What I love about white is that it’s a versatile option for any occasion. With one white piece in your outfit, you can easily transform your look. White also looks incredible with a tan because it stands out against your skin.

Some white items I’m looking to add to my closet are: a white midi skirt, cross-body bag, sandals, jeans and a crochet top. With these five items, it’s easy to create very different looks. Or, if you’re feeling daring, you can create an all-white outfit with these five items.

If you’re looking to add some classic features to your wardrobe for spring and summer, try white whether you’re wearing a white dress or white shoes. You’ll stand out in a sea of bright, patterned clothes.

Fashion Wish List: May

BB5615Items Listed: Bag from Target ($26.99); Jeans from Ann Taylor Loft ($59.50); Kimono from Express ($59.50) and Romper from Francesca’s ($44).

In the middle of spring, it’s natural to want new items to wear for the upcoming months. I’m listing my current fashion wish list. Hopefully, you’ll feel inspired to revamp your wardrobe for spring and summer. Here’s what I’m loving:

Colorful Bags:

I own two cross-body bags: one black and the other brown. I don’t have any bold, colorful bags to wear for spring and summer, which is perfect for this time of year. Target has a ton of options for inexpensive bags that are also in bright colors.

White Denim:

I’ve been longing of the day where I find the perfect pair of white denim. And I’m happy to say I’ve found a pair at Ann Taylor Loft. What I love about these is that they’re straight ankle cut and not jeggings. I want a pair that’s loose-fitting for spring and summer.

Crochet Kimonos:

Even though these have been popular for awhile now, I still don’t own one. I like the idea of having an all-black kimono with a crochet detailing because it’s perfect for outdoor concerts and trips to the beach. Essentially, this kimono screams spring and summer.

I owned a few rompers back in high school. Now that I’ve officially grown out of them, it’s time for some new ones. I love this black romper with crochet detailing. It’s sleek and classy enough to wear out and feel like you’re dressed up, but you’re secretly comfortable.

I hope you all found this list to be inspiring and get you in the mood for spring and summer. What is on your fashion wish list for this month? Make sure to leave a comment below!

What to Wear: Graduation

Products mentioned: Ann Taylor loft dress ($79.50); GAP dress ($69.95); Old Navy dress ($36.94); and New York and Company dress ($59.95).

May is just a few days away, which means graduation season is upon us. This means attending award ceremonies, senior picnics and other events to end an important chapter in one’s life. The main event of the week is commencement, so you’ll want a dress that is comfortable and chic. You’ll add bliss in your life knowing you picked a versatile dress with little hassle.

1. The white dress:

If you have an olive-based skin tone, a white dress is a great option for you. It’s feminine, simple but you’ll still attract attention. If you don’t want an all-white dress, try finding one with polka dots or stripes. What’s great about a white dress is you can add fun shoes to complete your look.

2. The patterned dress:

If you prefer to wear dresses with patterns, then dress number two is your BFF for graduation. What I love about this dress is that the pattern isn’t too overwhelming, so you’ll stand out without standing out too much. It’s the perfect middle-of-the-road option.

3. The LBD:

If you’re looking to keep it classic and elegant, the little black dress is right for you. If you’re not too keen on bright colors and bold patterns, it’s best wearing a black dress. Perks of wearing this dress: all of your photos will look slimming!

4. The bold, bright dress:

To anyone who would rather make a statement with their graduation outfit, dress number four is for you. Sometimes, we just need bold colors in our lives, and graduation is a perfect time to do it. Why not go out of college with a bang?

Fashion Essentials For Finals Week

BB42215Any college student will tell you that finals week isn’t the best week of the year. With tests to study for, essays to complete, and a room filled with things to pack, it’s a stressful time. While in the midst of packing, make sure to leave these three essentials out to wear during your last week at school. You’ll add some bliss to your life, and you will have one less thing to stress about so you can ace those finals. Here are my top three items you should wear during finals week:

Comfortable T-shirts:

I don’t know one person who doesn’t love plain, baggy T-shirts. They can be worn with anything and you won’t worry about feeling too warm while taking an exam. If you tend to feel cold, pair a lightweight cardigan over your shirt.

Canvas shoes:

Canvas shoes are comfortable; and you can pair them with different looks. If you want to dress down a skirt, pair canvas shoes with them. Or, if you’re into the shorts and T-shirt combo, you can wear them, too. Canvas shoes are very versatile and perfect for finals week.

Soft shorts:

Elastic waistbands are my BFF. Why would you ever choose denim over loose, soft shorts? If you’re someone who loves comfortable clothing, you need these in your life for finals and any other day of the year. I love that they’re still dressy even though they’re shorts.

4 Items for a Festival-Inspired Outfit

BB41515Products listed: Shirt dress from Urban Outfitters ($64); Pendant headband from Forever 21 ($5.90); Cross-body bag from Target ($10); Birkenstocks from DSW ($99.95).

If you haven’t been keeping tabs on Coachella, the fashion is more unique than ever. With some interesting fashion choices from celebrities and die-hard festival fans, there’s always something to see.

Coachella has inspired me to create a festival-inspired look you can wear on an average day. Let’s be honest; I know you don’t want fringe-crazed outfits to wear, which is why I created a simple version for an everyday look. You’ll add bliss to your life knowing you can rock a festival look running errands or a relaxing day at a park. Here are my four must-have items:

Flowy dress:

Not everyone feels comfortable wearing crop tops and short shorts, which is why I decided to find a comfortable dress. This dress even looks soft in the pictures! With this staple piece in your wardrobe, you can pair scarves, cardigans and leggings when it’s not 80 degrees.

Fun headbands:

Ditch you flower crown for the day because you’ll probably get a few stares. Instead, find a headband that’s subtle yet attracts attention like this chained headband that lays on the back of your head. Bring out your inner festival fan with this bohemian-inspired accessory.

Quirky clutches:

I’ve been obsessed with fun, quirky clutches this year. If there is a cross-body bag in a unique shape, I want it. I think having one is a great conversation piece and shows off your free-spirited side. Find a bag that fits your essentials, and you’re good to go!

Comfy sandals:

Sandals that you can wear all day without your feet feeling sore is a good option for any occasion. Maybe you’re attending a graduation party or having a beach day with friends. Opt for neutral sandals that you can pair with any look.

Top 5 Trends For Spring

BB3815Products mentioned: Dress from Forever 21 ($24.90); Jacket from Forever 21 ($34.90); Brows photo from; Clutch from Kate Spade ($298); Shoes from DSW ($39.95).

What I love about spring is all the trends available for the upcoming months. I love seeing what’s new in the fashion world, and seeing what I should add to my checklist. You’ll add some bliss to your spring wardrobe with these top 5 picks for spring:

Sleek in silver:

No, I don’t mean silver jewelery. I mean silver tops, skirts and dresses. I love that this trend is popular for spring because it is a neutral color we tend to take for granted. Although it’s strikingly similar its cousin color, gray, silver is a fun way to transform your everyday look.

Colorful coats:

Spring is the season for versatile jackets. You can easily wear denim, leather, military-style, etc. This season is about bold outerwear, so make sure you find a bold-colored or patterned coat that you can wear throughout April and May.

Bold brows:

Okay, so this isn’t fashion-related, but bold brows are definitely in for spring. I needed to include this because I think full brows are beautiful. Before, if you had big brows, you were made fun of. But now you’re seen as glamorous and attractive. So fill in those brows, ladies!

Beautiful bugs:

When I think of bugs being a fashion statement, of course I’m going be somewhat skeptical. If worn appropriately and tastefully, anyone can rock this trend. If you don’t want to wear bees on a top, try incorporating this trend in your accessories with a clutch or bag.

Patterned pumps:

As much as I love classic colored pumps, I’m happy to see that patterns are becoming more frequent with shoes. My two favorites are watercolor-inspired patterns and floral patterns. Spice up a neutral outfit with some bold heels, you’ll thank me, I swear.

What trend are you looking forward to trying for spring? What other trends are you loving right now? Make sure to leave a comment below!

Easter weekend is just around the corner, so I thought it would be appropriate to list some of my fashion essentials for this holiday. Make sure to like this post if you want to see more fashion essentials on my blog!

White tops:

White is one of my favorite colors to bring out for spring. The crisp, clean lines of white clothing is always a sure sign of spring. I still keep it weather-friendly by wearing 3/4 sleeve tops.

Comfortable dresses:

Dresses with sleeves are essential for at least seven months of the year where I live, which is why I love this jersey dress with a flowing, drop-waist silhouette. This is perfect for spring.

When the boots are away, the wedges will come out to play. I live in wedges because they’re comfortable and they look sophisticated and classy with different looks.

Patterned shorts:

Shorts are great to have for spring. I love shorts with different patterns because they add something unique to an outfit. All you need is a plain top to complement it.

Cute clutches:

You can’t go wrong with a bag that’s functional and fun. This clutch is perfect for spring, but can be paired with a variety of outfits for different occasions.

3 Tips For Wearing Denim

Denim is a timeless component in one’s wardrobe, but finding the right pair can be frustrating. Denim is something you should always feel comfortable and confident in, which is why I’m sharing my top three tips for buying and wearing denim. You’ll add some bliss to this essential piece of clothing and feel great the next time you’re shopping for jeans.

Consider different washes and styles:

Denim is versatile, which is one of its many positive attributes, but it can be difficult to find a pair that looks great for our body type. With different washes and styles, how do you know which one to choose? Everyone is different with what flatters their body and their preference in a style and wash. Take the time to explore your options. A good rule a thumb is if you’re looking for slimming denim, opt for dark washed and relaxed-fitted. If you’re naturally slim, try light wash denim and different styles.

Consider the shoes you’re wearing with your denim:

Yes, jeans are versatile, but proper footwear to complement your denim is essential to pull your look together. For skinny jeans, pair your favorite knee-high boots; whereas with boot cut, wear your low-heel pumps or ankle boots. It’s important to know what you can mix and match with denim and shoes. This can take your look to the next level if done properly.

Don’t be afraid to try something new:

We all have the one store we consistently go to for jeans because we know the exact style, wash and size that is perfect for us. Trust me, I am guilty of this, too. We all do it because we want we are comfortable with wearing. But, you might be surprised if you pop into a different store and spend time trying on their jeans. You could find a new favorite style. Also, don’t own one certain style of jeans. It’s important to have variety for denim.

Products mentioned: Straight Jeans from LOFT ($69.50); Barely Boot Jeans from Express ($79.90); Skinny Jeans from GAP ($69.95); Jeggings from Cotton On ($19.95).

Spring Essentials

BB31815Seeing snow melt is probably my favorite part of March. Knowing that I’ll soon be able to wear skirts, dresses and bright pastels brings a certain bliss I can’t describe. That being said, I thought it was necessary that I’d share my spring essentials. Let’s be honest, we are all curious to know what fashion items other people can’t live without.

I’m not talking about any dress. I’m talking about pastel-colored dresses or dresses with floral patterns. Essentially, any dress that screams “spring is here” is what I’m talking about. I love A-line dresses because they’re comfortable but they look dressy for wearing day-to-day. Who says you can’t get dressed up to go to class?

Open-faced cardigans

Although the weather is warmer, it doesn’t mean you can go all-out and wear sleeveless tops in March and April. You still need comfortable, versatile items to layer with your outfit. I love open-faced cardigans, especially in a neutral color like tan or grey. They’re easy to add with any outfit to stay warm.

Rain boots

I had to be a little practical here with my spring essentials because I live in Western New York. When the snow melts, you need rain boots throughout March and April. I love finding rain boots that can go with any outfit, like these black ones from Target. They’re perfect for the girl who doesn’t want bright-yellow boots (but if that’s your style, more power to you)!

Statement necklaces

I can’t get enough of this accessory. You can immediately change your look with a statement necklace. If you’re wear a plan T-shirt or a button-down shirt, a bold necklace will spice up your outfit. I want to expand my collection of statement necklaces this spring because they’re wearable during every season. What’s not to love about this trend?

Products mentioned: Dress from Kohl’s; Necklace from Jencha; Rain boots from Target; Cardigan from GAP.

Fashion Favorites

Fashion is something that has always inspired me. Whether it’s a colorful clutch, or a stack of bangles that are complementary for an outfit. I love finding different pieces that I can incorporate in my every day look for that month.

As much as I love classic neutrals like black and grey, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sick of wearing the same shades every day. I also look to magazines and bloggers for fashion inspiration when I need a pick-me-up with my clothes.

This month, I have been inspired by color. After a long, cold winter (cold is an understatement), I’m looking forward to sunny days and pastel or bold colors in my wardrobe. I’m also looking forward to adding more patterns in my closet for the upcoming season.

Here are the five fashion items that have inspired me to add a little color to my look and a little bit of bliss:

Products Mentioned: Eyelet skirt: J Crew ($138); Portofino top: Express ($59.90); Wedge sandals: DSW ($79.95); Bangle bracelets: Lord & Taylor ($48 each); Kiki clutch: Kate Spade ($228).

I hope this post gave you a little inspiration and bliss to find new colors and patterns to add to your closet.

Fashion Wish List: Under $30

bb3415Although it’s still snowing in Western New York, warmer weather  is just around the corner. “Warm weather” for WNY is 35 degrees, but that’s still VERY exciting considering it has been consistently below zero for the last three weeks.

With a new month ahead, I can’t help but feel excited for spring trends and bold colors, which is why I decided to share some inexpensive fashion items I’m hoping to add to my closet this month. New clothes and trends will easily add a little bit of bliss to your life as you daydream of warmer weather. Here are four trends/items on my fashion wish list:

I was skeptical about this trend, but after seeing a student wearing one, I knew I needed a jumpsuit in my life. It’s a secret weapon because you look dressed up but you’re also wearing a comfortable, loose-fitting outfit. It doesn’t take effort to wear this outfit. Just put on your jumpsuit and cute shoes. Do I need to say more?

I’ve been noticing bold yellow clothing and accessories from different stores in the past few weeks. Yellow is an underrated color, and I’m excited to see how popular this color is for spring. If you don’t want to have a bright yellow dress, opt for a lemon-colored bag. You’ll still show love to this trend without overdoing it.

Green accessories

Who doesn’t think of the color green when March rolls around? Unfortunately, I don’t own a lot of green clothing or accessories. So, one of my goals for this month is to add a little green to my wardrobe. A pair of green flats or a scarf is easy enough to incorporate to your outfits without wearing an all-green outfit.

Statement necklaces

I talk about how much I love statement necklaces, yet I only own two of them. I’m looking to expand of collection of necklaces that can easily wearable throughout spring and summer. I love how a statement necklace can take a plain shirt from boring to beautiful, which is why they are on my wish list.

bb3415-2Products mentioned:  Target ($29.99); Forever 21 ($19.90); Old Navy ($22.94); LOFT ($24.99)

5 Tips for Organizing Your Closet

Five Tips For Oganizing Your ClosetLast week, I wrote about how to save time in your morning routine, which included organizing your closet. I know some of you have trouble with keeping your closet organized, which inspired me to share my tips on closet organization. These tips will add the bliss back to your wardrobe (and sanity) because you’ll feel ready to take on each day with a great outfit from your organized space.

Divide and conquer:

First, separate two bags labeled “keep” and “donate.” Go through your clothes and find what fits and what doesn’t fit, what has holes and what’s good enough to keep. Here’s a good rule of thumb, if it’s not damaged but you haven’t worn it in over a year, it’s time to donate it. Once you’ve gone through your clothes, it’ll be easier to organize.

Cut the clutter:

If you keep other items like books in your closet in addition to clothes, you might want to ditch them. If you’re short on space, find a clever way to store these items. However, keep your closet dedicated to clothes, shoes and accessories. You’ll find that you’ll feel less overwhelmed getting ready in the morning and you’ll stay organized.

Color code:

I color code my closet because it’s the best way to stay organized. Then, within each color category, my clothing in categorized from sleeveless, short-sleeved, long-sleeved, sweaters, etc. Find the best way to keep your clothes uniformed in your closet. You’ll know where every item is with ease, which will keep you in track of your clothes.

Visually appealing:

One of the best ways to make your closet visually appealing is to keep your organization consistent in your closet. Find sleek hangers that will save space. Add a shoe rack to organize your shoes. If you’re storing scarves, belts and bags, separate them into their own category and find pretty storage to keep everything in its place.

Keep it up:

Don’t spend the time organizing your closet just to have it in shambles a week later. Make sure to keep up with your newly-organized closet by taking the time to put away your laundry each week in its proper place. Try to set aside time once a month to clean your closet and keep your organization up-to-date.

I hope you all have found some inspiration to organize your closet. How do you keep your closet organized? Make sure to leave your tips below, or tweet them to @BlissBrunette.

3 ways to save time in your morning routine

Three ways to save time in your morning routineWe have all been there, you hit snooze several times on a day-to-day basis and leave yourself with twenty minutes before your first class. It’s not fun. Luckily, I’m sharing my top three tips on how to save time in your morning routine. You’ll find bliss in the morning with these simple tricks:

Organize your closet

You’d be surprised how much time you waste in the morning sorting through drawers and closet space with no clear direction of what you’re looking for. If you take the time to organize your clothes and accessories, you’ll save yourself time in the morning.

Check the weather

It takes a few seconds out of your time to check the weather. Check the weather for the week so you’ll have an idea of what outfits you can prepare in advanced. You won’t have to worry about planning an outfit around a rainy day or snowstorm.

Prepare the night before

Most people advise others to pick out their outfit for the following day. However, many people don’t take this advice. You’ll save time in the morning if you have everything picked out from your outfit, shoes and accessories.

Five fashion essentials for a lazy day

We all have those days where we have no motivation to put on makeup and wear a cute outfit in public. Everyone needs a lazy day in the week, which is why I have complied my go-to items in my closet that I wear on lazy days. What’s great about these essentials is that you’ll look put together and polished without minimal effort. Like this post if you’re interested in reading five beauty essentials for a lazy day!

Here are my five essentials for adding the bliss back into your lazy day outfit:

I don’t wash my hair everyday, so I wear hats and beanies on the days I don’t want to do my hair. It will save you an extra 15 minutes in the morning, and you don’t have to wear your hair in a bun for the fourth day in a row.

If you don’t already own leggings (let’s be real, you do) you should invest in a pair (or five). I always layer pieces when I’m having a lazy day because I feel comfortable and presentable without putting a lot of effort in my outfit.

Comfy sweaters

The holy grail piece for a lazy day outfit. Find big, comfy cardigans or pullover sweaters that you can wear on a lazy day. A comfy sweater is a simple item that will make you feel better about not putting time in getting ready.

Button-down, chambray tops

If you’re out running errands, or have a meeting, chambray tops are the perfect option for a lazy day. They’re comfortable, they flatter different body types, and they are versatile with a variety of outfits. It’s easy to mix this piece in your wardrobe.

Ankle boots

I love the versatility of ankle boots because they look well with leggings, jeans or skirts. If you’re having a lazy day and need a pair of shoes that will dress up your look, ankle boots are a great option. Opt of a pair in a neutral color, so they will complement any outfit.

Color trends for spring 2015

PantoneColorsWhen the Pantone Color Institute released the fashion color report for spring 2015, I couldn’t help but feel excited. Although we have a few weeks left of winter, my mind is already on spring. I wanted to include what colors from the list I’m hoping to add to my closet this season.

If you’re interested in refreshing, cool tones and nature-inspired, warm tones, you’ll love the colors selected from the Pantone Color Institute. You can view all of the trends, including ones I didn’t mention, by clicking the link here.

Lucite Green: Mint was a popular color last season, but it will have competition with Lucite green. This color has a unique, fresh twist on mint green. I would love to wear this color for a dress for spring and summer.

Strawberry Ice: With an equal mix of cool and warm tones, this color is ideal for spring and summer. Strawberry ice is both subtle and charming. If pink isn’t your favorite color, you can still incorporate this hue in your wardrobe with accessories.

Glacier Gray: Let’s be honest, Glacier Gray will be the new black. And what’s not to love about this neutral? It’s equally timeless yet rejuvenating for your wardrobe. You can easily pair this color with other colors in your closet.

Aquamarine: The lead color for spring 2015 is aquamarine. We all love the effortlessness of beach-like colors, which makes aquamarine the go-to hue for fashion this season. You’ll have thoughts of your favorite beach while wearing this shade.

Scuba Blue: Neon colors are a thing of the past. You can look forward to a new pop of color this season: Scuba Blue. If you love energizing colors in your wardrobe, pick up a scuba blue top or scarf to add excitement to your look.

Marsala: This is the color everyone is talking about. Whether you wear this shade in clothing, accessories or makeup, marsala is a universal color. This shade includes warm hues to bring out your inner earth-lover, while adding hues that make the color slightly sophisticated.

What to Wear: New Year’s Eve

It’s New Year’s Eve, which means the end of one year and the beginning of my new one. What I love about the end of the year is reflecting on what we learned from one year, and how to apply it for the year ahead. New Year’s Eve is a night to spend with close friends and family to ring in the new year. It’s a time to say goodbye to 2014 and hello to 2015.

So, what do you wear? If you’re struggling to plan your NYE outfit, I have three suggestions based on the type of occasion you’ll be attending.

Outfit 1: Work party or going-out with friends: If you’re going out to the bars with friends, or a party with coworkers, this is a great look to try. It’s comfortable but looks classy for a night out. Want to get the look? Here are your essentials: a jumpsuit, bold, red shoulder bag, heels and statement necklace.

Outfit 2: Family party at home: If you spend New Year’s Eve with your family, you can dress comfortably and still look put-together. I recommend track pants because you can easily dress them up with a top and heels. Here are your essentials: a sequined top, track pants, stacking bracelets and chain-strap heels.

Outfit 3: Night in with friends: If you’re like me (not 21 and can’t legally go out to drink) you’re probably planning a get-together with your close friends. A night in can still be fun. And let’s be honest, who wants to go out when you can watch movies and order in/cook food? Spending the new year at home? Here are your essentials: kiner pants, t-shirt, black scarf and sneakers.

What are your plans for the new year? What outfit is your favorite? Make sure to leave a comment below or tweet me @BlissBrunette. I hope you all enjoy beginning in the new year with loved ones. *Originally posted on What’s Going on In Buffalo.*

What to Wear: holiday parties

The next few week will be filled with Christmas parties and New Year’s parties, which means gathering with loved ones to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of a new one. What better way to ring in 2015 than a little black dress? I put together two looks featuring dresses from Dailylook will inspire to to shop and create your best outfits.

Beautysets - Black on Black: Classic

This first outfit is perfect for a Christmas party with your family or a work party for New Year’s. I love that it’s sophisticated and comfortable for different occasions. Want to mimic this look for a holiday party? Here are your essentials: sweater dress, small clutch, statement necklace and cut-out boots.

Beautysets - Sheer & Lace: Feminine

The second look is tailored for a night out with friends for a New Year’s party. This look is the essence of a classy, chic look. The combination of sheer and lace add a feminine element to the look. Wine-colored accessories will add a pop of color to the outfit while complementing the dress. Want to wear this look for your New Year’s party? Your essentials are: A feminine dress, sheer tights, chain necklace, wine-colored heels and a cross-body bag.

What will you wear for New Year’s Eve? I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and I will talk to you on Friday!
