Summer Fashion Trend: Pineapples

BB8315Above images from Francesca’

I might sound biased because pineapple is one of my favorite fruits, but I am obsessed with the pineapple craze this summer. From accessories to decor or clothing, I have been seeing pineapples featured everywhere.

I thought it would be fun to do a post featuring some of my favorite items I’ve found from Francesca’s sporting this summer trend. Here are five of my favorites:

Jewelry Holder: This holds everyday jewels you wear regularly while staying festive for summer. If you’re looking for functional and festive tray to hold your jewelry, this holder is perfect for you.

Shorts: Who doesn’t love fabric shorts? They’re comfortable and are prettier than your standard denim shorts. If you’re looking to step out of your comfort zone, pick up these shorts to wear to a bon fire with your friends.

Phone Case: If you change up your phone case based on the season, add this one to your collection. It’s beach worthy and will keep you thinking about summer even when the warm days have passed.

Canvas Shoes: I love canvas shoes because they’re comfortable and versatile. Why not try pineapple-patterned ones? Take a navy dress and make it pop with these shoes. You’ll create a comfortable, chic look.

Watch: Put your Michael Kors away for the day and bring out this watch for a day of summer fun. The cork band gives the watch a laid-back look if you don’t want to worry about ruining your fancy watch.

What item is your favorite? Have you been wearing anything with pineapples on it this summer, or are you not a fan of this trend? Leave a comment below!

What I Wore Wednesday: Whimsical Whites

BB72215-4 BB72215-5 BB72215-2 BB72215-1 BB72215-3

I have become obsessed with wearing whites this summer. I love the look of a crisp, clean outfit. To be honest, there’s nothing better than finding a color palette that you love. My color palette depends on my mood and has recently consisted of neutral colors like white, black and navy with few bright colors.

This week has been divided between working and more working. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to enjoy summer weather or time with friends. I keep telling myself that the work will pay off in the end!

Sometimes, we can’t find time to enjoy life, and it’s important to remember to schedule time for yourself. Even if it’s as little as 30 minutes a day to unwind with a book, take a walk or chat with a friend. Although we have commitments, time for ourselves is important.

Today, I’m taking the time to enjoy a day off of work, school work and blogging. Instead, I’ll be spending time relaxing and freeing my mind of all any responsibilities. I plan to treat myself to one of my favorite foods (sushi). Here’s my What I Wore Wednesday line up:

Top: Ann Taylor LOFT

Jeans: Old Navy

Sunglasses: Francesca’s

Wedges: DSW

Today, in the mist of your busy week, I encourage you to take time for yourself and put aside any work for the day. We all deserve it! Make sure to like this post if you want to see my outfits from my trip to D.C. next week Wednesday.

Outfits Under $50: Laid-Back Summer Style

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you all are having a relaxing weekend. Today is going to be my busiest day of the week, so I decided to get a head-start on my day and write my blog post at 7 a.m.

I wanted to write another Outfits Under $50 post because I think it’s great to see how far you can stretch $50 for an outfit. It’s a great way to save money, and it’s perfect to see outfit inspiration for back-to-school shopping. (If you’re still in high school or college)

The store that I wanted to shop at for this outfit was American Eagle. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I was OBSESSED with American Eagle. Everyone had their sweaters and jeans: it was classic. Nowadays, I only shop there for certain items, but I thought it would be interesting to see if I could shop there for an outfit.

Top: Hi-Lo Crop Tank: $10

  • I loved this shirt for two reasons: one, it was $10 and two, because you can use this as a go-to piece for many outfits. If it’s going to be cooler by the time you start school, you can always throw a cute cardigan over this top and be comfy cozy for the day. Or, you can dress it up with a skirt and wedges. Whatever you prefer to wear, this top can open a door of many possibilities for you. Did I mention that it’s only $10?!

Shorts: Hi-Rise Denim Shortie: $19.99

  • I think that having a go-to pair of shorts is always the way to go. Specifically, these shorts can look great with a simple hi-lo top (listed above) or you can mix it with other tops in your closet that you prefer. It’s great to find shorts that aren’t too short. (Believe me, having denim material in areas when it shouldn’t be can become extremely uncomfortable and awkward for everyone involved).

Sandals: AEO Flip-Flop: $14.99

  • I like to keep the shoes simple because…one, I only have $50 to spend, and two it’s a great way to keep shoes that can compliment any outfit. These flip-flops are perfect with shorts and a tank top, summer dresses, or skirts. Any outfit can be paired with sandals.

Total Cost For Outfit: $44.97

I’m not going to lie, I am extremely impressed that I was capable of finding an outfit for under $50 from American Eagle. Some of their items can be pricey. But, with a little research and good shopping skills, you can always find a way to save money.

I hope you all enjoyed this post for today. You all know how much I love putting together different outfits for different occasions, especially when I can save money in the process. It’s a win-win situation for everyone! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, relax and unwind before we begin another week. And, as always, I will talk to you all soon, bye!

I <3 Summer: TAG!

Hello everyone! I apologize for not posting recently. The last few days have flown by and I didn’t realize how hectic this trip would be. However, I will promise to make it up to you all. First, I am going to start by doing the I ❤ Summer Tag, which is from the YouTube beauty Guru, Ingrid or also known as missglamorazzi. I love finding new and interesting tag posts to do for my blog and I thought that this was very appropriate for the season, so lets get started.

1. Favorite bronzer for summer?

I have been using Revlon’s Photoready bronzer, which has worked incredibly well on my skin. As I have mentioned before, I have sensitive, combination skin, which means that some areas of my face are oily and some areas are dry. And, my skin reacts easily to certain products depending on the contents on the product. So, it’s important that I am conscious on what products I apply to my skin. I recommend this bronzer from Revlon because not only is it a drugstore product that isn’t expensive, but also because it works well with different skin types.

2. You’re relaxing in a hammock, on a tropical island. What are you sipping on? (Favorite summer drink)

Normally, I am boring when it comes to drinks because I always have water. But, if I had to pick a certain drink, I would choose Arizona Peach Ice Tea. I could have multiple cans of this ice tea a day and I still wouldn’t get tired of drinking it. It’s 99 cents, it’s a HUGE portion, and it is delicious. So, it’s a win-win situation for summer. If you have never had Arizona Peach Ice Tea, I will buy you every flavor and send them all to you in a package. That’s how great they are. Just try it. Please.
3. Favorite summer lip product?

I have been obsessed with the Maybelline Color Whisper lip product all summer long. It has become a bit of a problem recently, but I cannot help myself. This summer alone, I have bought four of them and have used most them already. It is safe to say that I need to receive medical attention for my addiction. I love that they are moisturizing, but still give gorgeous color that last well throughout the day.

4. Pool or Beach?

As much as I love sitting out in my backyard by my pool, I would have to choose beach. I love being near the sand, and nothing is better that hearing the waves of the water crash against the shore. It is the perfect way to spend a summer day. Basking in the sun while reading a book is one of my all-time favorite ways to spend my summer vacation.
5. Summer = crazy hair! What’s your must-have styling product?

My must-have styling product is Herbal Essences Mousse. I try my best to not apply heat to my hair throughout the summer because my hair receives enough heat from being outside in the sun all day. So, after my shower in the morning, I will take some of the product and distribute it evenly throughout my hair. It works well if your hair has curls to it, and this products keeps my frizzy hair tamed during the warm summer months.
6. Sun bathing or fake tan?

Definitely sun bathing. Laying out in the sun on a gorgeous summer day is how I relax. Although laying out in the sun is just as bad as fake tanning, I still believe there are some health benefits to receiving that extra dose of vitamin D. I like to pick out a book and read while I lay out during the day.
7. Favorite summer nail polish?

My favorite summer nail polish is Purple Panic by China Glaze (Color 1008). I wear this color religiously on my toes as well as my nails during the summertime. I think it’s the perfect shade for summer without being too overwhelming of a color. As much as I love neon, I think it’s nice to have a color that works well with your skin tone and isn’t too dramatic.

8. Any summer traditions?

Not really. Every summer is different for me, so it’s nice not knowing what to expect during vacation, or plan an unexpected road trip. I am a firm believer that spontaneity creates some of the best memories. So, I try to keep my vacation open for new ideas and adventures.
9. Favorite summer scent?

I love summer scents, so this is a difficult one for me to choose from. But, if I had to choose a scent it would be Rio Rumberry from Bath & Body Works. I love how tropical and exotic this scent is for summertime. I love having the full collection including the body wash, lotion and mist, so my body permeates of this scent.

10. Favorite BBQ food?

Pasta salad is definitely an obsession of mine. I would be lying if I said that I haven’t eaten an entire bowl of pasta salad in one sitting, but I have. So, that just proves how much I love pasta. Another favorite of mine is corn on the cob. Summertime is the only chance I have to eat fresh corn on the cob, so whenever it is available, I will have at least two or three of them before I feel satisfied. And, if I could add one more favorite, it would be Shish Kabobs on the grill. I know I have a lot of favorite foods, but I love food a lot and I love to eat a lot. So, don’t hold it against me.

11. What’s your favorite summer-proof product?

My favorite summer-proof product is the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-In Conditioning Cream because I have frizzy, damaged hair, so this product works perfect in your hair if you have a similar issue. I apply this cream evenly to the ends of my hair every three days. Not only does it tame my hair, but it also leave my hair soft and luscious throughout the day.
12. Any summer vacation plans this year? No plans? Tell us about your dream summer trip!

My only plans for summer were to work and attend the current three-week-work trip I am on currently. And, this experience so far has been one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my summer vacation. I have the opportunity to meet amazing people and spend a lot of time with them, so we all became close over the last two weeks. But, I am sad to say that I leave a week from today. However, we come back in a month, so I cannot wait to see everyone again.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! And, I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. Have a lovely day and I will talk to you all soon.

What’s In My Bag: Summer Edition

Hello, Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday on the fourth of July. It was one of my most memorable nights for the summertime. I love having special moments with people that I care about. Playing a pick-up game of Ultimate Frisbee, snacking on unhealthy food and watching the fireworks with my team was a great experience.

Today, I wanted to share with you all what I have in my bag during the summertime. I specifically put summer edition in the title because my purse in the summer is completely different from what I carry in the winter. I like to keep my bag light and on-the-go for the summer, but my winter bag is a different story.

My summer bag is a tribal print cross-body bag from DSW. I love this bag because it’s colorful and bright for the summertime, but it still holds all of my essentials for the day.

The first item I have is my wallet. The current wallet I am using is purchased from Vera Bradley from $32.00. The style is called Euro Wallet in the color, “Make Me Blush.” I received this as a birthday gift last year, and I am still in love with it. I am sorry to say that they don’t carry this specific style in the color I have, but they do have a variety of other patterns that are equally beautiful.

Next, I have my keys, which is pretty self explanatory. Nothing exciting about them at all.

Also, I carry headphones where ever I go because I normally listen to music as I work, so it’s great to have them with me all the time. I purchased the headphone from Wal-Mart last year for $10. I don’t think it’s necessary to drop a lot of money on something that’s going to get covered in ear wax, so I choose to save money on unnecessary items.

Finally, I always have my EOS lip balm and my bath & body works had sanitizer with me wherever I go because I love staying fresh and clean throughout the day. And, my EOS lip balm is easily my favorite lip product I have ever used. If you have never tried this brad before, please check it out! The are oddly shaped, but the quality of the product is well worth the awkward shape of the product.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post on what’s in my bag. I want to know what everyone keeps in their bag during the summertime, so if you want to just make a list of your summertime bag essentials and leave them in the comments below, I would appreciate it.

Simple and Effective Workouts for Summer

Hello, Everyone! I am up bright and early on this Wednesday morning, and I hope you all are having a great start to the day. On the bright side, only three more days until the weekend, which is extremely exciting considering it is my last week at work for three weeks.

The last week has been hectic due to working long hours, reading for my trip, and attempting to workout on a daily basis, which I haven’t been effective in doing. So, I decided it was necessary to find simple but effective work out for the summer because of my schedule. I want working out to become apart of my daily routine, but it’s important that they are quick and efficient workouts that don’t require much space.

I created a workout plan that would work efficiently with my schedule, and I have to admit that a lot of these workouts seem old-fashioned and simple, but that’s what works best for me. I wanted to share my ideas with you. So, if you’re in the same situation I am in; I hope this works well for you, too.

One of my all-time favorite workout moves to do is the plank. Now, don’t sound too frightened…I know that it isn’t the everyone’s favorite move because of how painful it is, but trust me when I say that it works. It’s painful, tedious and probably the worst way to spend sixty seconds of your time. But, it will be worth it.

For those who don’t know what I plank is, the image above (From Google Images) shows the proper form for the plank exercise. I hold my plank for about sixty seconds, or until my arms start to shake and fall to the ground. After taking a two-minute break, I will repeat this about eight times. This triggers every muscle that is essential to workout: arms, abs, back and legs. The more you perform this move, the longer you will be able to hold your form and see results.

The second simple but effective workout that I enjoy is jump rope. And, I’m not talking about leisurely skipping rope to music…I mean all-out, hardcore jump rope. I prefer to tackle this workout in groups of 100. So, I’ll jump 100 times in the shortest time possible (less than two minutes) and then I’ll repeat that ten times. The workout is quick and simple, but it’s also a killer cardio workout that triggers your abs, especially if you keep them engaged during the workout.

This image above (Also from Google Images) shows the proper form for jumping rope. When you jump, keep both feet on the ground each time you land. This will keep your heart rate high and will make your workout more effective.

My final simple and effective workout is walking. Yes, you heard me correctly, walking. I love how simple walking is. And, not only is this beneficial for your physical health, but it is also beneficial for your mental health. Walking is one of those workouts that helps me relax after a long and stressful day. I enjoy walking on my off days of working out. So, instead of intense cadio activity, I’ll rest up by taking a brisk 45-minute walk for the day.
